Prof. Dr. Bilal Melhem Houshaymi

Founder & General Director

“Education is not merely about transferring textbook information; it is about cultivating character, inspiring scientific curiosity, and providing every child with the analytical tools to realize their unique potential.”

Driven by a passion for academic rigor, Dr. Bilal Houshaymi established Averroes College to bring university-level scientific inquiry directly into K-12 education. A full Professor at the Lebanese University (Faculty of Science and Faculty of Health Sciences), Dr. Houshaymi earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology from King’s College London (KCL), his MSc in Applied Molecular Biology & Biotechnology from University College London (UCL), and his BSc from the American University of Beirut (AUB).

His extensive background in international higher education and scientific research shapes the school’s core philosophy: merging classic moral values with early coding, AI integration, and advanced analytical thinking.

A Campus Designed for Discovery

Nestled in the heart of Taalabaya, Zahlé, our 3,237m2 campus is built to balance active play, scientific discovery, and spiritual reflection.

Ecology & Reflection: A green sanctuary featuring a vibrant Ecological Garden and Aviary, where students connect with nature alongside the peaceful spiritual haven of Masjed el Ward.

Modern Science & Tech: Advanced Physics, Chemistry, and Biology laboratories designed for hands-on experimentation, complemented by a specialized Computer & IT Lab dedicated to early algorithmic logic, coding, and digital literacy.

Athletics & Play: Age-adapted, secure playgrounds for Kindergarten and Senior students, alongside regulation outdoor turf football fields and basketball courts for PE and inter-school leagues.

Culture & Research: A multilingual Academic Library (Arabic, English, French) and a modern acoustic Event & Conference Hall for debates, lectures, and theatrical performances.

Vibrant Student Life & Traditions

Life at Averroes extends far beyond traditional classrooms. Our campus comes alive throughout the year with traditions that celebrate talent, intellect, and heritage:

The National Day of English

An annual festival celebrating language mastery through drama, debate, and poetry recitals.

Cultural Heritage Day

A vibrant celebration honoring local Bekaa traditions and global multicultural perspectives.

Pioneering National STEM Teams

Sponsored student teams compete annually in national science fairs and robotics contests, consistently bringing home top awards across Lebanon.

Strategy & Sports

The annual Averroes Chess Championship sharpens strategic foresight and logic, while our seasonal football and basketball leagues build sportsmanship and teamwork.

Parent Partnership: Open Doors & Dedicated Care

We believe a child thrives best when school and home work as one unified team. Averroes College operates on an Open-Door Policy, ensuring accessible leadership and coordinators who welcome direct parent dialogue. Through real-time academic tracking, proactive behavioral follow-up, and scheduled conferences, we ensure every family remains an active partner in their child’s growth and well-being.
